I completely understand that everyone HATES coming up with a password for any of their online accounts. Its frustrating and hard to think of something to remember and actually "retain" it.
And if you're NOT using a Secure Password Manager of some king, then you MUST come up with some way of remembering the passwords you create.
We'll here's a good way to help you remember, along with creating VERY strong passwords.
Note: At the bottom of this blog entry, I reference using Local & Online Password Managers.
!!! ALWAYS use VERY Strong Passwords !!!
a. Alphanumeric (Both numbers and letters)
b. Use Multi-Case Passwords (Upper/Lowercase)
c. ALWAYS include "Symbols" in your pwrds (ex: aPPL$es?)
d. NEVER Use Vocabulary Words - (Use "Phrases" and "Acronyms")
e. ALWAYS use LONG Passwords (No less than at least 20 characters)
f. NEVER use the SAME password for different Online Accounts
(ex: Banks, Emails, Social Media, etc.)
g. NEVER use NAMES of People (especially your Family/Children)
\\\ Use Mnemonic Passwords \\\
They're a GREAT WAY to memorize "Chunks of Information", like lists of words or strings of numbers. Use a simple mnemonic phrase that you say on a "frequent" basis, which makes it VERY EASY to remember.
EXAMPLES:
- What the Hell (wth)
- Man I hate Mondays (mihm)
- Wow it is so hot outside (wiisho)
- I'm so tired of this job (istotj)
* Another good example would be to use your Favorite Song Titles to create your Password.
- Can't Touch This (MC Hammer) = ctt
- Anyway you want it (Journey) = aywi
- Don't Stop until you get enough (Michael Jackson) = dsuyge
Then simply MIX these "Mnemonic Phrases" with Numbers and Symbols.
(example: dstyGe9?aYwi-ctt15) - I mixed 3 different Mnemonic Phrases w/Symbols.
